This virtual course is designed to allow for self-reflection on our own experiences with grief, our inner and outer biases, and how they can impact us as friends, family members, peers and/or healthcare providers. Participants will explore contemporary grief theory, how to hold space for grieving people, and provide practical skills and knowledge on how to best support ourselves and others.

Death Café
The Death Café Workshop offers a welcoming and thought-provoking space where people can gather to enjoy sweet treats, sip tea, and engage in open conversations about death and dying. This unique gathering encourages connection, reflection, and a healthy exploration of a topic that touches everyone.
Unlike grief support or counselling sessions, the Death Café is not a therapeutic group—it has no set agenda, teaching objectives, or themes. Instead, it provides an opportunity for participants to share experiences, ask questions, and listen in a safe, respectful, and informal setting.
Hosted by the NSMHPCN Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultant, these workshops invites open conversation and curiosity about life, loss, and the end-of-life experience.
Bookings and Inquiries: To schedule a Death Café session for your organization or community group, please contact Education Specialist Lori Gill, lori@nsmhpcn.ca, for details and availability.
