Today is World Hepatitis Day.Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that can be caused by several viruses, including hepatitis A, B, C, and D. Viral hepatitis can lead to serious health complications such as liver disease and liver cancer, yet many people living with hepatitis do not know it because symptoms can be silent for years.This year’s theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s break it down,” calls on us to remove the barriers that stand in the way of prevention, testing, treatment, and care — including stigma, misinformation, and limited access to services.The good news is that hepatitis can often be prevented, managed, or cured. Myth vs. Fact Friday Myth: Hospice palliative care is only for the last days of life. Fact: Hospice palliative care can begin much earlier than many people think. It can support someone at any stage of a serious illness, and it often brings the most benefit when started sooner rather than later as needs become more complex.
