A Guide To Difficult Conversations: The Art of Language

This interactive session will start by exploring common language mistakes we all use when talking to patients.  We will discuss an approach to breaking bad news and review a recent article on various techniques used while having difficult conversations and their efficacy.  There will be opportunities for discussion about difficult questions and how to approach them as well as successful questions and when to ask them.

It will be interactive and informative and hopefully people will leave with a few more tricks under the belt and feeling inspired to tackle their next difficult conversation!

The Art of Breaking

Facilitated by Greg Armstrong

Each day we wake up not knowing what that day will bring and what we will encounter.  As we are aware it is not always what we would expect or ask for.  As we experience the more challenging aspects of life, those moments that mark us and have the potential to change the trajectory of our future, how we navigate them significantly affects what that future could be. Out of personal and professional experiences of trauma and loss  “The Art of Breaking” speaks to being able to consider and move from hurt to hope, from post traumatic stress to post traumatic growth and from compassion fatigue to compassion satisfaction.

Fee: $20
